Deer season ends today so all the "blaze orange duck hunters" will be out in force tomorrow AM. They are usually easy to tell they blow a mallard call at every bird they see and don't see including divers. Mallard decoys are the only decoy needed as they can't tell anything but a mallard or wood duck. Skybusting is the perfered technique as letting birds work doesn't register with this crowd. Be perpaired for a last minute rush at the boat ramp too, most don't show up until 15 minutes before LST and will set up on top of any other party in the area. Last but not least if their luck doesn't pan out they'll run up and down the rivers in their boats tring to shoot anything they may flush. Oh boy is this going to be interesting.
Got to love the skybusting....you forgot blowing the pintail whistle at ringnecks.

Oh man that is a new one for me!
btw the full moon isn't helping at all with the ducks, I slept in today. I'll give it another try next week.
This water and moon has everything screwed up. Saw plenty of birds this AM, just spread out everywhere. Still ended up with a few woddies and a mallard.
From the way this season has gone, I would say the "blaze orange duck season" started in November. In 25 years I can never remember so many idiots out their skybusting and acting stupid.
I heard atleast 50 shots from a couple of guys about a mile away from me this AM. I saw them at the Hardees later and asked how they did. They had one Hoodie........Funniest thing was they had about 5# of corn floating in the bottom of their boat.
You just gave away a point I was going to say. When things get slow just listen around. A few shots here and there except one area where it sounds like a war. Bet you a dime on a dounut that place is baited. Its what the GW's do they just sit back and listen every morning, sooner or later they'll pinpoint the spot and check the area.
