Next season you will have to get a bow/crossbow to add the additional days to your season, then don't forget the muzzle loader, then to fully take advantage find some private land or a club so you can hunt on Sundays!
Once you get started it is just as bad as fishing!
I did buy a crossbow this season but I have not hunted with it yet since rifle was open when I bought it. Next season will be a different story. Muzzle loader is next on the list.
Looks like it was not meant to be, this season. I will be preparing from now until September for next season. I will fill my tags next year, come hell or high water.
sorry to hear that Chris. Better luck next year.
(FWIW...mahi and tuna and wahoo taste waaaay better than venison )
Chris,
It was still a fun year though! My highlight of the season came last night when me and my son, who is 6 ended the season watching a doe and button buck walk to within 20' of the stand and my son got out and scared them away (he did not want me to shoot).
There are stages to hunting just like fishing, keep it up.
Tight lines
Shoot mom in the spine.......... yearlings will run off then come back.
Only thing better than shooting a yearling is shooting 2 yearlings....
Deer are like roaches around here doing tons of traffic accidents and farmer damage.
You should in no way feel bad for the population. I don't condone shooting for sport but if you are gonna eat it, have at it.
