I want to take my 16 year old son duck hunting this year. Neither of us have ever Been before. I am looking for recommendations on guides that would be willing to instruct us as we will need a lot of help.

Thanks for any input.

Have heard Guion at Green creek is a great guide. does scissor rig open water hunts. quite an exciting and fun way to hunt. Also personally I have hunted with Clark Purvis at roanoke river waterfowl, hes got locations all over the state. hunted with him a few years back in the october season, shot my limit. 3 mallards,3 woodies. He was even kind enough to let me hang out for the day after our hunt at the lodge and allowed me to dove hunt that afternoon with his dog. limited out solo. best hunting day of my life so far, and clark is a class act guy. find him on facebook at roanoke river waterfowl. Also in hatteras Team Dempsey Guide service operates a curtain box and will put you on the redheads. hardcore hunt though.

Both Guion and Jake at Team Dempsey are good friends and great guides. Two very different hunts that can be world class. Curtain blinds hunting with the Dempsey's is an experience like no other when the redheads and pintails are here. Scissor rig hunting with Guion enables you the possibility at a mixed bag of puddle ducks, divers, and sea Ducks. Also, Guion has a special going now where you can bear hunt at know charge when booking a duck hunt with him. Good luck.

Wesco, Do you live in hatteras? indeed that the curtain box is a very different hunt than most people are used to but it is my favorite. Killed my first pintail and redhead on the same day with Jeremy Hicks and Capt. Jay in their box when I lived there. one of the most awesome days I have ever experienced out there.

Johnny P , am not from Hatteras. Live in Wilmington but am very blessed to know a lot of good people from there and get to spend plenty of time there throughout the year.
