Well the Merganser block party is still in full swing however we did spot our first Teal of the season today. The Teal flew late around 8:30 and stopped around 9:00. There was a much better variety of birds out there today which is great as we are tired of watching Mergs fly by and stool up. Unfortunately our shots were not on mark but it was fun none the less.
The one item that was not fun is the lack of common courtesy displayed by some young bucks that posted up 30 yards off our port side directly behind our spread after we shined our light to let them know we were there. They were so close we could hear their conversations, when your fishing its one thing but shooting firearms is another.
To those young guys you are welcome for the birds that you shot as I called everyone of them in to you! That was the only reason you even had looks at birds as your rediculous set up and volume level made you stand out like the Cape Hatteras light house. Just FYI if someone beats you to a spot you need move along to another, its as simple as that. Don't make excuses and act like you are in the right when you clearly know you are in the wrong. How about ask your father to go next time and help you brush up on your hunting etiquette.
I agree fish. I hate it when your out on a spot and someone pulls up be side you and drops down on top of ya. Some people just dont care. If it was still the cowboy days I know how I would put a stop to it. Bang Bang!!!
When someone is that ignorant I make it my mission of the day to punk any shot they might have by shooting just as any duck takes an interest in their spread.
Had a boat load of yahoos ( Waccamaw River) pull up within 100 yards of my setup this AM and decide they wanted to hunt. I guess they couldn't see the 2 spotlights beaming down on them, but they did hear my yelling. Oh did I mention they were setting up across the river from my setup! What a bunch of morons, if you cannot get up out of bed early enough to get to the spot somebody else already has please don't go at all. There is no reguard for safey or good ethics with rubberheads like this.
How many people hunt bluzzard bay?
How many people hunt bluzzard bay?
Too many, I have hunted there for years, and in the past two years the crowd has really moved in, especially since they structured the ramp this past year. It has gotten bad enough we have started to go other places just because all of the dog hunters (no offense) who come in just after deer season ends and shoot at every merganser and bufflehead that flys within 75 yards of them.
Nobody likes a tourist :imo.
