Tried to go for a walk in t he woods with my boys (2 and 5), on sunday, plan was to cut accross the Morton tract and take a peak into the imoundment for an upcoming permit hunt. Guy (resident on Sloan Farm Road I assume) drove up behind me and said you couldn't even go walk around back there on a Sunday unless you were a resident, or on any other day unless you had a permit for that day.
I know it is a permit only area for hunting...kind of why I went on a Sunday to just wander around. Guy was nice about it so we just went elsewhere, but now may end up wandering into the impoundment in the dark without laying eyes on it for 2-3 years. Have one more scouting opportunity, hopefully, will take the boat if I can go that day.
So my question is...was that guy right? Doesn't matter at all for the rest of this year, but just for future knowledge.
I do not think he was right. as long as you do not have a firearm. I would call the wildlife on that one. 910-340-2324 this is Charles (Wildlife SGT) for that area.
You are allowed to scout the permit areas. Like was mentioned, no firearms and observe rules such as not entering impoundment before 4am.
Went by boat today....about 50 coots and 3 ruddy where all we saw.
Talked to a group heading out and they where empty handed.
White Oak, are you referring to Bladen County?
No, white oak river, or slow county side.
