Had a small doe get stuck in my fence this morning. Back leg completely broken, nearly separated from the body.

I was able to pick her up and get her off the fence but her injuries were so severe that she bled out a short time later.

Tried calling the wildlife commission to see if I can bring the deer and have it processed or have it donated to hunters for the hungry.. basically do anything other than just having her go to waste.

I can't get a call back from an officer and the lovely lady in Raleigh thought there was a special permit needed but wasn't sure what it was.

I hate to see the deer go to waste but am not up for breaking the law

Anyone know what to do with it?

Similar thing happened to me. I just processed the deer myself, which is easy.

I believe its the same rules if you had hit the deer with your car....

Just spoke to the WRC.

He gave me the OK to gut it but it turns out you need a special permit to harvest or process the deer ugg...

They are going to bring it by later today

Yippee... should have just had the city pick up the carcass and save myself a lot of hassle

Anyway, the deer is going to be donated
