We had a draw hunt for Campbells Creek today. We scouted yesterday and saw nothing but coots. Weren't too happy when we scouted but we went this morning and had a good hunt. We shot 15 green wing teal, 1 hen widgeon, 1 drake mallard, and my buddy ricky had a swan permit and he shot a swan. We were very pleased with our morning. Birds flew really good for the first hour of shooting time and then had some sky busters around so made it a little tougher. We saw lots of groups of widgeon, teal, and pintails but nothing really decoyed as we got most of them on the fly by. Good fun with friends and why North Carolina is home. Got to love N.C.
That is a great bird hunt right there! Congrats, how did the four legged hard worker do on the Swan?
LOL! She had a tough time. We had to meet her about half way and carry it for her. She is my buddy ricky's dog and she is 2. She gets super fired up to retreive and does great with hand signals and works super hard. It is awesome to watch a dog work.
