Well we went out for my son's first dove hunt...got there early and hung out with all the other hunters...they had an airshow before the hunt which was really cool...then we headed out to the fields...it was slow starting out but picked up quite well as the day progressed...unfortunately he didn't get a bird...he's a little young yet and needs more work with shouldering the gun and pass shooting (especially leading)...I'm hoping it will work out ok during duck season and he will get one...I really feel the tri-bead turkey sight on the gun hindered him...he was trying to get them lined up and by the time he did and was on the bird it was well out of range...I think I will go ahead and pick him up a Burris FF2 and put on it...that should simplify it enough and help him get on target faster...
The boy in action
My sons are 40 and 38 years of age now, but they remember their first dove hunt like it was yesterday. Good job, Dad....
Suggest you get back into the edge of the woods a little more or at least into some brush. Those dove got some prety good eye sight.
we left that spot and got right in the middle of the field in the sunflowers...best shooting we had all day...there were 250 people there moving the birds and they were flying everywhere most of the best shoot was happening right in front of us in the cut field...no cover at all
looks like you guys were having fun. i took my sons for their first hunt also. same results no dinner except andys famous burgers.hahaha
Hey, he's wearing camo and out with the boys...looks happy to me dad! Good job.
awesome pic!
Awesome stuff! I was out working on the lease and getting stuff ready for next weekend but heard a ton of shooting going on. Always good to spend time in the woods with the youngin's!
