Rare Lancetfish caught off coast of Hatteras!

Tremendous swordfish bait right there!!

Yeah creepy as hell! Wanted to share with the fellow Carolina family!

I caught one of those while trolling around the "D" wreck last year. I thought I had a small sail on until I got it close to the boat.

I had no idea what it was until I got home and looked it up. I was tempted to keep it but I was too turned off by that ugly mouth
and flabby body. Its still swimming along out there waiting to give someone else a thrill.

I'm not crazy about doing mounted fish or animals on my wall, but I was just telling my wife the other day... if I were going to mount a fish for the living room wall, a big lancetfish would be my first choice.

She was not amused.
