Any freedivers on here? My two dive buddies are moving away so I'm looking for some more. Have a 20' Pioneer 197 wetslipped in Hampstead. Run out of NTI and usually dive live bottom areas from 65-80' depths.

Eh it's more knowlege and technique than anything. I've only been at it about a year. A buddy wanted to get into it, never done it before, gave him a 10 min class on how it works and how to breathe before we dove and he was hitting 60' and killing gags on his first day.

I moved here last year from CA and haven't had anyone to go with. I have been diving for AJ and mackerel with flashers since then, but no bottom hunting without tanks. If you ever need someone to go please PM me. I live in Sneads Ferry and am able to go most weekends or during the week with a few days notice. In CA I spent most of my time hunting halibut.

PMs Sent.
BTW if you think you want to get in to this but holding your breath down to 75' sounds scary as hell then I highly recommend taking the freedive class with Ren and Ashley of Evolve Freediving in Wilmington. They are great people and under thier instruction you'll be shocked with what you're capable of. Aug 1-4 is an intermediate class, no pre-requisites, you go down to 132', Sept 6-7 they have the basic class down to 66'.

I currently live in Charlotte, NC but am starting to get into spearfishing. I'll be taking a freedive course early next year and will be looking for places to travel to and people to dive with. Would be happy to meet up at some point as I have not had much luck finding people freedive around the NC/SC area (most seem to spearfish on scuba).

I live in Charlotte, NC but am in Wilmington often to take my boat out. I have a 22ft Angler and have speared nearshore structure but am interested in pushing out deeper. I also head out of Topsail and would be interested in finding a buddy diver.
