that would be willing to come along and share some knowledge. I live in Hampstead, NC and I basically jumped in and what little I know since I started last August is based on personal experiences. I have all the rods and reels for offshore trolling and bottom fishing. I just don't know what tackle/bait etc to get and where to go. I did get lucky and somehow landed a 60" long mackeral/wahoo(can't tell the difference yet) while grouper fishing at 100 ft deep off dead cigar minnow. Sounds crazy I know. I have 27' Concept with 250hp Veraudo and a 110 gallon fuel tank. I can cruise at 40 and still get 3 mpg. I have a GPS with the fishfinder which I haven't quite fully grasped how to use yet. If anyone is interested in showing a rookie a few lessons let me know. You won't have to pay a single dime. I'll get whatever tackle/bait you want and the food, beer, and gas. I am just trying to learn this sport so my kids can experience what I didn't get to growing up. Thanks for reading and sorry for the long post. You can reach me by email: haakedw@yahoo.com.
Be glad to help you get started. PM me when you want to go.
Good Luck,
Midnight
Midnight I just PM'd you.
You won't find a better teacher than John McDow (AKA Midnight), or a nicer guy for that matter. Plus, he is going to teach you how to get home when your GPS goes kaput and your plastic thru-hull starts leaking! Ya'll have fun! It is a great sport and I can think of nothing better to bond a Dad with his boys (or girls, I just don't happen to have any!).
