Woke up this morning to find my fishing rods and tackle stolen. This happened at Croatan MHP in Atlantic Beach. I packed up everything last night in the bed of my truck and lo and behold forgot to lock my doors. This morning I went to check on my cooler full of fish in the truck to make sure it had enough ice for the trip back to Greenville all my stuff was gone. They were ugly stick Tiger light jigging Rods, star plasma rods, penn fierce rods, penn spin Fisher reels, penn battle reels 6000 7000, Shimano Sahara reels, penn sargus, ugly sticks, 10 rods total. Plus a Calcutta fishing duffle bag full of BWC jigs, spros, Kastmasters, power pro, all my hooks, sleeves, and many other items I cannot recall right now. damn!
sorry to hear this. damn thieves
Some puke will be visiting Ebay and pawn shops. Damn thieves!
Load an app that searches craigslist across the country and monitor it
So sorry buddy. The violation feeling is so frustrating. I've not gotton over mine yet but pray that i will. Bad people will meet their maker one day and sooner if they get caught by the right one.
Its a damn shame we can never catch these pos punks!!!!
Just once I would love to catch one of these jackass! Sorry to hear!
I'll keep my eyes and ears open. That's some bad people.
Sorry to hear this man! Hope they find em. I had this happen 2 years ago and still think about it daily!
Sorry to hear this Stephen. Hope you can get it back and justice is served.
Did you check to see if there may be some video cams around? May be helpful. Good lluck on catching them!
Stuff like this sucks! Hope they get caught red handed trying to sell it off. Last year we had a wet slip in a marina. Had been there all week, went to get the boat to load it up on our last day and the night before someone got on our boat and left a note saying we were in there slip blah blah blah. I checked with the marina and we were in the right slip, luckily all doors were locked and nothing was taken but I was beyond pissed.
My boat is usually 20' inside a locked building. Tonight it is in a wetslip as I'm leaving early in the AM. The slip on starboard is occupied by a boat and the owners. The marina is gated and full of cameras that actually record so people are easy to ID. The only way to go and feel all is secure.
Thanks for all the condolences. In speaking with some of you and other fishremen this happens more than I thought. I will have to change how I do things from now on. I am paranoid now.... When golfing with my son today, I made sure we put our clubs in the back seat of my truck instead of the bed while we went into a trade mart to get some Gatorade!!!!
It is sad that things have become this way. I grew up in a old mill house without A/C, so all the windows AND the front door was open all night....with nothing more than a "hook" on the screen door for sercurity. You could sleep in the swing on the screen porch cause it was cooler out there than in the house....and you could do it without worry of harm....and without worry of people stealing your crap out of your truck. As the late Tim Wilson used to say...."It's a sorry world"
You definately have to be more "paranoid" these days. It's sad that it's just easier to steal stuff, get a slap on the wrist, and go right back at it the next day versus GO TO WORK and earn your stuff. Hell...I live in a gated community, with "security", and my neighbors house got hit Friday at 11:00 AM. Another neighbor lady saw him walking down the street with a pillow case over his shoulder.....and a X-box under the other arm! People are NOT nice anymore. Protect you and yours...or they will take it. A contractor asked me when I got my CCW..."Why do you think you need to carry a gun?"
"Because crime knows no boundaries"
Good luck gathering a new fishing equipment collection....like the others said....sorry this happened to you.
