I'm absolutely sick right now. My buddy who hunts with me left work for a long lunch to put corn out on our stands. I got a call when he got there, and I could tell he was pissed. He said, "well I put the corn out." I said, and??? He said, too bad we won't be able to hunt over it anymore. I thought at first the farmer who leases the farm land got pissed and had the land owner tell us we couldn't hunt there anymore. Well, that would have been a good thing at this point. He continued, "ALL our stands are gone, like stolen." Well anyway, someone between Sunday and today around lunch relieved us of an almost brand new big game magnum xl lock on, a field and stream 16ft. ladder stand, an old hand me down home-made lock on and 2 new 20 ft. big game climbing sticks. The only one they didn't get is my climbing stand that was on a different part of the property. Mind you, the land is posted all the way along the road frontage, and none of the stands were visible from the main road. Only the ladder stand was visible from the access road on the private property. THIS SUCKS. The farmer was on the property Saturday harvesting the soy beans, and my suspicion is one of his lackys running the tractor or something decided to help themself to MY stands. Anyway, if everyone on here would keep a lookout for someone with "new to them" stands of the descriptions I gave I would appreciate it. I have filed a report with the sheriffs department, but I doubt I'll ever see these again. I will check the local pawn shops, and craigslist, but if anyone sees anything, just shoot me a message. If anyone has any suggestions for other places I could post this, I would appreciate that too.

Man sorry to hear that. It is hard to believe that some low life would come and steal your deer stands.

I guess people will steal anything. My thinking before now has always been, "well, it would take too much work to take these things down for anyone to steal them." Guess I was wrong. I thought people would actually see the POSTED NO TRESPASSING signs and pay attention to them. It's like gun laws, the only people will abide by them are no risk anyway.

Sorry about your stands! Also the posted signs deal ticks me off. We need to put a little more sting into trespasssing so people will be scared of it a little more. I know land I used to lease in Warren county, you could register with teh sherriffs office and if someone was caught without a permit it was $150 the 1st time and jail the next.

I will enlighten you about the dog hunters. I dont like them because they cant keep their mangy muts off of private property. I know a lot of people that spend a lot of time managing their deer herd and then to have someone's dog come on to your property and run the deer off pisses me off. I posted the entire property and two saturday's ago I am stting in the stand and this numb nuts and his dog come walking in the woods and he is yelling for his dog. It was no secret that we were in the woods as our truck had been parked where it was completely visible. Really, I think he should be prosecuted. I just couldnt get down fast enough to get to the guy to confront him about it. My roommate and I have put a lot of time and money in that property and for some asshole to come in there and steal our stuff pisses me off. I can only hope I can find out who it is. F@$ck A thief...I hope the next one this bastard steals he falls out of and you can use your imagination about the rest.

Saltnbattery, we've got the same problem around here with the dogs and there owners. Personally I think they should do away with using dogs to run deer. Nobody, not even most hunting clubs, have enough land to even think that the dogs will stay anywhere close to there property, and most times around here they let them lose to where they'll run deer off other peoples property on purpose. Not to mention thinking they have the right to come on your property and get their dogs no matter what you say. I know this doesn't apply to all, but you know who you are.

I agree, a lot of them if they see deer whether its thiers or someone else's land just drop the tailgate and let the dogs go and if they are caught all they say is we are trying to catch the dogs. The WRC wont do anything and other than calling the sheriff thats all that can be done. Where I hunt by the time the sheriff got there they would probably be gone anyway.

We have dog hunters around our lease as well and we have the same problems. They run their dogs over our property and when we ask them to stop, they use the same old excuse that they can't control where the dogs run. Bull. Then, they try to intimate us by saying we'll be sorry if we mess with their dogs. I've had enough, but there is nothing legal we can do.

If you hunt in Pender county, I suggest you email your concerns to Jimmy Tate, Chairman of the Pender County Board of Commissioners, at university@ec.rr.com They are already considering more dog control measures in light of the dog bites that have occured. They say they want to be considerate of hunters, but they need to know most hunters would stop deer hunting with dogs if they could. Short of a complete ban, the Commissioners should consider the requirements the State of Georgia recently inacted. It would solve most of the problems we have today in NC.
