Went out to my car Friday am and it was locked! I never lock my truck since I leave nothing in it. Told the wife we needed to let neighbors know somebody was breaking in cars again. And, yes, he locked my car after going thru the console. About an hour later, my neighbor two doors down called and said they stole his truck! He had left a spare set of keys in the truck and it was unlocked. That night my next door neighbor texted my wife and said they broke in her car and stole her daughters ipad. They realized the locater was turned on so they pulled it up. There it sat in Hillsville, Va. We are in Greensboro, NC. I texted my buddy and told him his truck was in Virginia. He went over to the ipad neighbors house and they called the cops in Hillsville. He directed the cops to his truck. Sitting in the parking lot of a Super 8 motel. Cops go to the front desk to find out what room has the truck registered to it. My son is watching the ipad locator on the internet and says, "it's moving again!" Guy bolted out of the back door of the hotel with the ipad on tow. My buddy told the cop on the phone that the guy was running down I-77 South. Cops took off down the highway. He finally tossed the ipad, but ended up calling 911 and turning himself in after seeing all the cop cars on the highway. Got the ipad and truck back. Busted a 20-something guy from Cary, NC. Cool time watching it all unfold.

Nice job. Did they use him as punching bag afterwards? I am sick of these guys getting off so easily because the crime is usually considered petty. The issue is these are crimes compounded 100x from previous robberies and never get justice from them. Just think how many times they go on properties and lift handles? Each time is attempted robbery. Set an example on these guys, make others think twice. They need to be scared of the public!!

He turned himself in,probably because hes done this kind of thing before and resisted and remembered what happened, believe it or not the majority of police officer and deputies in this country despise criminals and love locking them up and sometimes they burr up and resist and thats better

How does a person turn on a "locator" on an iPad?

I use Lookout - https://www.lookout.com/features/missing-device Once you register it will locate your phone even if the thief disables GPS
