Council to Address Butterfish Rebuilding in Amendment 10; Mackerel Limited Access Program Delayed Based on recent information that the butterfish stock is overfished, the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council has decided that Amendment 10 to the Atlantic Mackerel, Squid, and Butterfish Fishery Management Plan (FMP) will focus on a rebuilding plan for butterfish. As a result, the mackerel limited access program will now be developed in Amendment 11 to the FMP. This will result in a slight delay in the development of a limited access program for Atlantic mackerel.
