Ducks Unlimited Tournament Update
July 29, 2005 – UPDATE: 3:20 pm Friday
17 Sails, 26 White and 8 Blue Marlin released today. Bill Collector is still hooked up with a BIG Blue Marlin!
The 17th Annual Ducks Unlimited Tournament started off with a bang this morning when a thunderstorm rolled through about the time the 74 participating boats were scheduled to leave the docks.
“I don’t think some of the Big Rock Landing boats left until 7:30 am,” commented Mark Shouse, tournament director. “It was really rough”, he continued.
The Duck’s Unlimited tourney is using the Big Rock weigh station and radio for this year’s event.
Mark received his update this morning at 11:25 am from the Atlantic Beach based committee boat Frequent Flyer. A total of thirteen releases since the 9:00 am starting time with 7 Sailfish, 5 White Marlin and 1 Blue Marlin.
The Hatteras based boat Gambler was in the lead with 1 white marlin and 2 sailfish.
