Gulf Council to Convene its Ad Hoc Red Snapper Charter For-hire Advisory Panel
The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council’s Ad Hoc Red Snapper Charter For-hire Advisory Panel (AP) will meet Tuesday, March 8 – 9, 2016 at the Gulf Council office – 2203 N. Lois Avenue, Suite 1100 in Tampa, Florida. The AP will convene from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm March 8, and 8:30 am – noon March 9.
The AP is scheduled to review and discuss draft Reef Fish Amendment 41, which examines developing management program for the harvest of red snapper by federally permitted charter vessels to provide flexibility, reduce management uncertainty, improve economic conditions, and increase fishing opportunities for federal charter vessels and their angler passengers.
The AP will also develop recommendations to the Council regarding the design of a red snapper management program for charter vessels.

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is one of eight regional Fishery Management Councils established by the Fishery Conservation and Management Act of 1976.
