Hard Clam and Oyster FMP Advisory Committee The Marine Fisheries Commission Hard Clam and Oyster FMP Advisory Committee will meet on Monday, March 26, at 6 p.m., in Room 305, the CMAST Building, Carteret Community College, 303 College Circle, Morehead City.
The committee will receive an update on the Hard Clam and Oyster FMP reviews, and will be asked to review and select a position on the following issues:
· Oyster sanctuary development and construction
· Education on shellfish health risks and overboard discharge of waste;
· Water quality degradation by biological contamination of shellfish growing waters;
· Require all shellfish (out-of-state) at dealer level to be tagged; and
· Allocation of areas for shellfish leases.
The committee will also be asked to provide comments on other Hard Clam and Oyster FMP issues.
