Hogarth Speaks at Sportfishing Summit Magnuson-Stevens Act reauthorization and implementation of NOAA’s Recreational Fishing Strategic Plan were on the agenda when Dr. Bill Hogarth spoke before members of the sportfishing industry on October 6. Dr. Hogarth returned for the third consecutive year as an invited speaker at the American Sportfishing Association’s annual Sportfishing Summit. His remarks focused on the progress made over the past year in pulling together members of the community, academia, industry, and government in regional efforts to take action on NOAA’s Recreational Fisheries Strategic Plan. The forum elicited some useful discussion on the Administration’s proposed saltwater angler registration system. Dr. Hogarth also met with counterparts from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and state fish and game departments to share perspectives on various sportfishing issues.
