Beginning January 1, 2018
Effective January 1, 2018, requirements of the Seafood Import Monitoring Program (SIMP) will apply to imports of highly migratory species (HMS), including tunas, swordfish, and sharks. Importers of HMS will be required to obtain an International Fisheries Trade Permit, and to submit import shipment data electronically through the Automated Customs Environment.
