NC Marine Fisheries Commission Shrimp FMP Advisory Committee

Notice is hereby given that the NC Marine Fisheries Commission Shrimp FMP Advisory Committee will meet on Thursday October 7, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the C-Mast Building, Room #306 located at Carteret Community College, 303 College Circle, Morehead City, NC. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN LOCATION.

The Committee will discuss management of fixed gear in the inshore shrimp fishery. The issue of how to manage channel nets will be discussed during review of this issue.

The next issue to be discussed is the use of shrimp pound nets or traps. The Committee will be prepared to make management recommendations on the issues discussed.

The Committee will also begin discussion on the issue of bycatch in the shrimp trawl fishery. Joe Grist, population dynamist with the Division, will present information on the effects of shrimp bycatch on finfish population assessments. Sean McKenna will also present information on shrimp trawl byctach.
