NOAA 2005 NATIONAL STAKEHOLDER FORUM NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, will host a national stakeholder forum on March 2nd in Washington, D.C. Issues identified and discussed at this year’s forum will be used to set near-term priorities, as well as to guide development of long-term goals for the agency. NOAA is an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The interactive forum, entitled “Working with Partners to Serve Society,” will be hosted by Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and NOAA Administrator, retired Navy Vice Adm. Conrad C. Lautenbacher; Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and NOAA Deputy Administrator, Dr. James R. Mahoney; NOAA Deputy Under Secretary John J. Kelly, Jr.; Brig. Gen., USAF (Ret.); and Assistant Administrator of Program Planning and Integration, Mary M. Glackin. The forum will consist of facilitated breakout sessions organized around NOAA’s four mission goals and several cross-cutting themes. The breakout sessions will be conducted by members of NOAA leadership. The morning sessions will cover NOAA’s mission goals and include; Ecosystems led by John H. Dunnigan; Climate led by Chester J. Koblinsky; Weather and Water led by Frank P. Kelly; and Commerce and Transportation led by Charles Challstrom. The afternoon sessions will address NOAA cross cutting themes: Observations led by Gregory W. Withee; Environmental Literacy led by Marlene A. Kaplan; and Research led by Richard D. Rosen. Specifically, NOAA is seeking input on setting priorities for implementing its strategies and achieving its outcomes. Key areas of interest include improving service delivery, strengthening partnerships, addressing regional issues, and enhancing global leadership.
