President Appoints Three Individuals to Tuna Commissions

President George W. Bush has appointed Rodney R. McInnis, of California, to be the Federal U.S. Commissioner to the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC).

Mr. McInnis, NOAA Fisheries’ Regional Administrator in the Southwest Region, will continue to lead the U.S. delegation at official meetings of the IATTC. He has previously served in this capacity under an interim appointment.

In addition, the President has selected two individuals from non-government sectors as Commissioners to the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (
ICCAT). Randi Parks Thomas brings new experience from the commercial fishing and canning industries, while Robert Hayes’ re-appointment offers continuity and expertise from the recreational fishery perspective. NOAA Fisheries Service congratulates all the nominees.
