Public Meetings to Evaluate Atlantic For-Hire Survey; May 17-25

As part of continued efforts to improve the accuracy and availability of recreational data for the Atlantic Coast, NOAA Fisheries Service will be hosting four regional meetings to obtain feedback from industry on the For-Hire Survey. In particular, we would like to share 2004 survey results and hear ideas on how to refine the data collection process to reduce burden on for-hire operators and improve overall participation.

Each meeting will cover a specific geographic area, as follows:
ME, NH, MA: May 17, 2005 in Portsmouth, NH
MA, RI, CT, NY: May 18, 2005 in Narragansett, RI
DE, NJ, MD, VA: May 23, 2005 in Ocean City, MD
NC, SC, GA: May 25, 2005 in Charleston, SC

These meetings are open to for-hire captains, but space will be limited. Please contact Nicole Bartlett at 301-713-2328 x.216, or Nicole.Bartlett@noaa.gov to obtain more information about the regional meeting in your area.
