Step Up For Soldiers at Kure Beach Fishing Pier
“Step Up For Soldiers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to “Helping Disabled Soldiers Get On Their Feet”, will hold their second annual Children’s Fishing Day on Saturday August 18, 2007 at Kure Beach Fishing Pier. Registration for the day of free fishing on the pier will begin at 7:00 am, you may pre-register online with the National Guard or at www.stepupforsoldiers.org . The event will last from 7:00 am until 12 noon. The event is open to all children of active duty and deployed Soldiers. If you have any questions contact: Tom Russel at 1-910-297-4981.
The Got-Em-On Live Bait Club will be helping coordinate the event. The club will provide volunteers, coolers, and all the rods and reels. Anyone interested in helping make this a special day for everyone involved contact: Dawson Freuler at 1-910-458-1202. Also a big “Thank You” goes out to Mike Robertson who has donated the use of Kure Beach Fishing Pier for this great event, Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce for donating a breakfast of biscuits, Britt’s Donuts for supplying their world famous donuts, Blackburn Brothers Seafood for shrimp for bait, Coca-Cola for soft drinks and Culligan Water for providing bottled water. “
