well its Sunday afternoon and I just got finished cleaning all my rifles from the deer season,I always make sure to clean the barrels from powder build up til its shining and free from powder specks your accuracy will stay true if you do this.I started using the flexible cable that pulls from the chamber to the muzzle. this keeps from damaging rifling at the end of the barrel, this is a major cause of loss of accuracy. Or so I have been told it has seemed to work great for me.I have some friends who tell me they never unload their guns from 1 year to the next.
I always clean and oil mine after every time I shoot them....but then again, I am a firm believer in maintaining everything.

Every time after hunting out here you have to clean them I have found. Most of our hunting spots are in salt water and it is rough on them. Had an issue the other day and had to do a complete cleaning of the internal trigger group. It had rusted and was freezing the trigger group making the trigger pull about 20 lbs. never again will I wait a day and not clean a gun. Just my .02
Iagree after each time I go hunting I take a cloth with rem oil and wipe down the outside. I have some guns that are 30 years old and they still look like new.
I have a 39 year old Rem 1100 Chesapeake that I hunt with dang near every day here on Bogue sound. It is old beat and the wood is starting to swell but it still out performs most of the new $1000 guns. It gets a hot shower every day to remove the salt and marsh mud then a good rubdown with good old WD40 and a good spay on the action.
