Somebody swiped 4 rods out of my garage last night. Please be on lookout for them. I'll be checking local pawn shops, garage sales, craigslist, etc
Descriptions are as follows:
• Planer rod. Very distinctive. Has an old Shimano Triton 80 wide spooled with white planer bridle, 200# blue hollow core, and old striped braid beneath that. Reel seat was missing so I made one out of a metal plate and 4 bolts. Looks homemade. Painted black but bolts are rusting. Rod is short bent butt thing, black and gold from pinnacle marine.
• Way back rod. Blue pinnacle 80 class rod about 6’ with Shimano tld50 wide spooled with high vis yellow mono line. Reel has white paint on left side with ‘250’.
• Sea bass rod- 6’ or 6’6” trevala, medium duty, with Lethal 40 spinning reel. Has 40# light blue hollow core braid
• Light Line rod- 6’ or 6’-6” orange ugly stick with cork handle, old spheros 8000 reel with 40# green power pro braid
Oh no, I hate a thief!!!
ggod luck Chum, hope you get your stuff back
Damn! Out of your garage! Thanks for the post, will keep my eyes open.
Sorry to hear that, I hate a thief.
Damn man! And you just said things were pretty safe there...just goes to show nothing is safe anymore. I know the rods well so I'll keep an eye out. You are welcome to use mine if you get a weather break before getting them back or replaced.
Also live in Hampstead and keep my rods in garage, what part are you located. Will keep and eye out .
Water's Edge at Deerfield.
Sorry to hear that Todd. Our whole neighborhood had vehicles broke into last Sunday (Cypress Lakes in Hampstead). Luckily we didn't have anything valuable taken, just pocket change. There are plenty of D-bags around that's for sure.
Heard someone trying to get into my skiff a few months ago in Newport off Highway 24. They crawled in the back, the tongue came off the ground and it spooked them when it slammed back down so they ran. The sheriff and local PD came and told me that there are teams of thieves working the entire coast. They pull handles on car doors, if they are locked they keep moving. If the door opens, they jump in and grab whatever they can and run.
A couple of the thieves are targeting boats and trucks looking for coolers, rods and reels and electronics. Most of the selling of the stolen stuff happens around Charlotte and Raleigh so watch Craigslist in those areas for anything you lost.
Sorry to hear about all the losses in this forum but if someone broke into your house or garage to get stuff, chances are you know them or have met them and they knew you had it there.
I'm going to engrave all my stuff with some innocuous symbol that only I know so I can provide identification to the authorities.
Chum,
Hate it for you.
They work our area unfortunately. I had 4 Shimano Torium 2Os taken out of the Onslow Bay while at Harbour Sound last year. They came up on our private area. I could not take my little girl fishing that day. We had footprints and the cameras out Sears Landing were all over, but got nothing. It was frustrating to say the least. Arlen at Tex's Tackle was awesome in hooking us up with some new gear if you have to replace.
That shit sucks indeed. When I used to build custom rods, I would put owners tags in the butt sections before I epoxied the butt caps on.
I would also leave a name and number in the tip section for surf rods.
Wouldn't you like to stick a double barrel shotgun up their ass and pull both triggers? Hate a thief.

Just an FYI that Arlen is now at Intracoastal Angler near Bradley Creek. Super nice guy and he will hook you up there.
Nice guy at Tex's Tackle by the name of Chandler if you shop there.
