I’ve seen news and photos of the beaches being closed and people being run off the beach by law enforcement. Has anyone been turned around at the inlet and been told you couldn’t go offshore during this cluster?
I’ve heard of authorities breaking up spring break parties in FLA, for obvious reasons, but why on earth would you not be allowed to take your boat through an inlet?
I have not seen anything to make me think the inlets are closed

Went in and out of MBI several times today. No problem. Didn't even see the man.

Saw pictures of bonito Rick. Got a report?

Wrightsville and a couple other beach communities have closed beach access, but NCWildlife recently reiterated that boat ramps are still open. Not sure how long that will be. Other than that, short of a statewide "shelter in place" order, it's unlikely they'll close the waterways, inlets, or ocean.
Honestly, I can't think of a better way to enjoy the healthy effects of the sunshine and fresh salt air, and to maintain some social distancing, than getting out on the ocean... especially if you don't have to deal with the crowds at the boat ramp. Hate that I missed yesterday (from the surf cams, the number of boats right off the beach looked almost like summertime!), but I can't wait for decent offshore forecasts.
