Do people not do contracts anymore? Especially with the upfront money involved much less a million dollar prize involved. Geez!

It was never about "all the money". I don't fish tournaments, but I understand that typically the person/persons who charter the boat, pay all the entry fees, expenses, etc., keep the lion's share of prize money. The dispute seems to be between the boat owner and the crew over dividing up their slice of the pie, whatever that was.

The crew that fishes with them is a long time running. I don't believe they charter the big rock. And as for leaving due to money issues that is not the case. I don't know many details but I do know money wasn't the issue.

I know someone that personally fishes with them every year. Maybe the other spots are chartered different each year but not every spot is chartered.
Edit: This year the boat was fully chartered by one individual.
