I'm all geared up for kings and mahi. I was ready for last fall and then the storm hit and turned everything upside down. I have a bunch of drone spoons and #1,2,3 planers. I have some older penn senator 4/0's I plan to use. Anyone see an issue with pulling a #3 planer inline on that reel? I suppose i can go try it but don't want to find out it cant do it the hard way. I was going to put 50# braid on it to reduce the drag in the water from the line. Thanks a bunch, dying to put some in the box.

Should work fine. A 4/0 will probably pull up to a #6

I have pulled pirate plugs (same thing) behind a planer. If you do it do not run it very deep bc if you have too much line out and have to stop to fight a fish then you can end up with a friggin mess! I have caught grouper on pirate plugs behind a planer though.
