I’m looking at a 1992 sailfish 25 to maybe buy. Has 2 Yamaha 225 four strokes 2004 models. Just wondering what y’all think about the sailfish boats and is it enough to take offshore on decent days?[/quote][/b]

Have the exhaust checked on the engines for corrosion. That particular year/make had a problem with it and it's a pricey repair. If everything checks out, it's a nice set up.

I bought a 2003 Yamaha F225 and the exhaust had been done. Have the receipts and it looks like somewhere around $2k so with twins you are at $4k if needed. That would be a deal breaker. Then again, if they have not been done they might not need it. Get the engines evaluated to include the exhaust inspection, compression check etc.
Also, a 1993 Grady White is a good boat but like any boat that old, you should have it surveyed. There could be a lot of little gremlins in the wiring or soft spots that a trained pro can find.

About 12 years ago I bought a 1990 Grady White 30' Marlin with twin 2 stroke Yamaha 250s from Florida without getting a survey. It was a tank and I loved it "for a while".
Over the next two years I spent more on repairs and upgrades than what I originally paid for the boat. That annoying alarm sound was all too familiar.
That exhilarating feeling of getting out on the water can quickly turn into heartburn.
I was a regular customer at Crocker's Marine and Blackberry Marine. Only once at Gregory Pool, but that is an unpleasant story in itself that I will not get into.
Money spent on repairs is usually not reflected in the resale value of the boat and is basically gone.
I would have been better off to spend that same total of money on a newer boat, or at least one in better condition. I'm not saying the boat you are looking at may not be a good buy, I'm just suggesting you get someone to check it out thoroughly and consider all your options.
I still think Grady White is one of the best boat manufacturers, but with my budget I now have a 2014 Sea Hunt 25 Game Fish that does everything I need.
