Guys,
I recently obtained, at next to nothing, two baitwell oxygen tanks, a regulator, and hose. I have been kicking around the idea for quite some time and I came across a deal I couldn't pass up. My question is, and I know there have to be some folks around eastern NC that use them tournament fishing, where do you get them filled? I have called a couple of welding supply houses and they just want to exchange. Thanks for any input.

Not trying to be rude, but I know the pros and cons of these and I know the danger of them. Just looking for info on where to fill them, Sneads Ferry, Wilmington, Swansboro, Wilson, Rocky Mount or even Raleigh for that matter.

Thanks

Most local gas dealers don't have the capability to fill tanks. Airgas in Wilmington may be your closest shot and you will have to deal with issues like, hydro dates of the tanks, overall condition like rust and paint on the tanks. If you have resources, it may be easier to rent a tank of welding grade O2 and transfill to your tanks. This can be a dangerous operation, so be very careful. I have been dealing with Breathable grade O2 for over 20 years and what you want to do will not end up being cheap or easy.

I messed with it for a season. I gave up and saw no improvement to the life of my menhaden. But my dad had a set of welding tanks so I was lucky enough to use what he had. Itís a simple process to transfer from one to the other but has to be done a certain way.

I can't imagine this would be better than a continuously refilled livewell with fresh seawater.

Yea, I'm assuming it's in addition to a live well? Maybe someone will chime in and educate us...
