That survey looks horrible. Do you know when the dredge is comming back?
Guess I will be using Shallotte, any news on that one?

Tuesday March 7th Lockwood Inlet Meetings recap.
Thank you to Holden Beach Marina and Will N Ashley for setting up the venue and hosting.
1pm Summit and Workshop
In attendance Lockwood Inlet Association , Carolina Beach Inlet Association, USCG, US Army Corps, Chance-Rouzer Liason, Commissioner Cook, HB Town Council Murdach, Town of Oak Island Mgr and Ast. Attendance approx 20 individuals.
Highlights:
US Army Corps planning to resurvey and spend time mapping east side of inlet and area of old channel on other side of Bendigo Wreck. Currently claims current channel too shallow to get their dredges in.
Lockwood Has $980,000 Federal dollars sitting in an account to be used that was appropriated last year.
US Army Corps has been directed over past year and half to make Oregon Inlet, Dare County and Ferry Channels in OBX top priority. Hence Lockwood not being maintained properly.
It has been made aware and acknowledged that Lockwood Inlet, surrounding estuaries and beaches are facing devastating water quality issues due to Inlet being blocked and Lockwood River not flushing properly.
Discussed ways of mitigation
1. Removing Civil War Wrecks
2. More dredging
3. Jetty
4. Terminal Groin on HB
Thank you to all that attended and this was a great working meeting.
7 PM Public Meeting
In attendance Lockwood Inlet Association , Commissioner Cook, 75 Individuals.
Update given on 1pm meeting
Group voted unanimously to support a Jetty.
Recommendations where made on exploring old channel to east and opening back up. Past experiences from 1980's and 1970's where shared.
We had a tremendous turn out and more individuals are now volunteering and becoming active to work towards an immediate and more permanent solution.
Coalitions are being formed with Private and Public partnerships.
Thank you to everyone who was in attendance.
Sorry, I don't know of a Survey for Shallotte, I do know that it is navigable. Reach out to Capt. Austin Aycock, Brant McMullan or Cane Faircloth they traverse these waters ever week.

Thanks for the update. I usually go out of Lockwood and have been out when it was ;shoalded up and sporty, just not alot of fun at low tide.
