Going out of Hatteras next tuesday am.
Do have some young ones going we are on a charter boat.
But 6 to 7 ft @ 5.5 to 6 secs seems very snotty for young ones even adults
anyone help me with this. Opinions please

We used to take 24'er out of Hatteras all the time. It can get snotty, but thankfully it's not far to the fishing grounds as compared to all the other ports. Rockpile is only 20 miles out.
That being said, my advice regarding weather is as follows:
1) The trip is tuesday. It's Friday now. Wait until Sunday to start fretting hardcore over the weather. Things can change quickly and no sense worrying about it until it's truly in play. A weather forecast more than 3 days out is an educated guess.
2) Don't worry about the seas. Look at the wind. 6-7' @ 5.5 is snotty for sure, but if the wind dies, the washing machine affect goes away and you can deal. On the converse, even a light (~10-15 kt) NE wind can be annoying as out in the gulf stream it's going opposite direction of current and can stack up the waves.
3) If you've booked a good boat, the captain isn't going to haul you off into a miserable day. He's gotta be on that boat too, so trust his judgement. If he gives you any option of cancellation with refund because of the weather, take it. He knows better than you.
Hope your forecast improves and you get to go.

As Blizo said the Captian knows the boat and the limitations. He's not going to take you out if its dangerous. I've had a few trips canceled due to weather by the captain, and canceled may times myself on my own boat. Hopefully your forecast improves. I've been out on Runoff 41' boat in the conditions you are describing, and it was never uncomfortable 25kn winds and 5-7ft.
