There is no regulations on these fish. They are called ring tail perch. They were once known as sailors choice, becasue sometimes it was all they had to eat. My neighbor has brought some home and said they tasted fine, just a little boney.

They also go by spot tail pinfish, on the DMF website. We sell em up at Surf City Crab. I personally have never tried em. I guess theyre just like any small fish, very boney.

Keep some large ones and ate some when everytime else was closed.
Tasted pretty good. Gave some cleaned ones to some friends, Didn't tell them what they were. They said they were tastie. Great cut bait for bass.

They make excellent live baits for Gags and butterflied for Red Grouper works really good. I've filleted, cut out the dark strip with the little bones and fried them, very good to eat. Served them at fish fries along with grunts and pinkies and no one knew the difference.

We preserve the larger ones, and then my friend JD Jeffers eats them. These are great meals, he said. He even ate while playing monopoly online
