Guys
I have a chance to buy a 19ft Boston Whaler with a ford i/o the propulsion is jet instead of prop. As a prop dinger in the past i like the idea of no prop but I have no practical knowledge about how effecient they are; especially in salt water. Please advise.

Had friend who had jet propulsion two seater boat (I can't remember manufacturer - I think seadoo) -- he only had problems with jet drive. He used to joke that it cost him $1000/day to operate if he factored in all his repair bills.
That being said, jet skis have pretty decent repair records - and all use jet drives.
Good luck in making up your mind.

Pete, Jet drives are very good on some boats in some conditions, I have a good friend with n.c. wildlife resources comm and he has a 19 or 20 boston whaler with jet drive and it does ok, It cavitates on him sometimes in the ocean, and has had other minor problems, but nothing major to speak of.
