A while back I found a company that sells fiberglass rods for the antenna industry. 3/4" 8' solid rod for $17. Shipping is expensive but when you get 5 or so buddies to order with you its not so bad. They now have expanded their line to include SS couplings, tips and handles to make your own anchor pole.
Their website is http://www.mgs4u.com/

That is a cool website. I have wanted a shallow water anchor for my kayaks and also shallow water anchoring my boat, but never wanted to pay the shipping costs.
They are $80 locally at GOPC.
Looks like you could build your own a little cheaper maybe.
Thx for sharing. If you get a group buy, let me know.

I bought two 3/4'' 8' rods, stainless steel tips, and t-handles and it was less than 100$ including shipping. They work great, but they don't hold in hard sand as good as a power pole. But in the creeks and muddier areas, they work like a dream.

That is nice but I got it beat.
I use a 8'(can be longer or shorter) piece of fence top rail(1 3/8).
A 3 way pvc connecter and length of pvc needed. Bolted to bow of my skiff.
$20 Bucks!
