That was Sat.
Herd it on radio about 20 miles from them.
All I know is it caught fire with 8 people on board.
Helo was over them and good Samaritan took them onboard.
Thanks to the boat that helped them.
Lasted for about 45 min on radio.

7 people, all safe. Good Samaritan beat the CG by 30 minutes, could have been bad if not there. Did not hear if the boat sank.

Heard it was a dive boat so they were probably already prepared to get in the water which would have helped out.

Heard this over the radio Saturday as well. I was fishing out of MHC but could hear the CG side of the conversation. Glad to know all made it safely back home.

Guess I was hearing things.
May have been a boat hovering over them.
Your article said 8 twice.

I was fishing out of MHC and only heard CG side. It was a plane, I clearly heard pilot telling them he was coming to look and what his fuel load and flight time was. Don't know why they didn't mention in article.

It's not my article. But it was 7 people on the boat, no helo. But you are funny- hail hail hail hail cheer a hovering boat- did you see that on the radio?

The CG said they would have sent a helo if the situation worsened (if there wasn't a nearby boat to help).

CG said the boat sank about an hour after the crew abandoned ship. Fire got much worse- apparently it was just smoke until after the passengers jumped off. Then flames started showing, and the fire raged. Smoke plume was visible 20 miles. No word on the propane or fuel barrel that was abandoned. Be careful out there!

i will be posting a full story on what happened soon but I will answer the questions asked so far.
I was the captain working for a company out of southport, we had 7 persons onboard, fire started in the engine room, it was a navy jet circling overhead, the first vessel on scene was lady red out of wrighsville beach, everyone is safe and uninjured, it really went up in flames not long after we had abandoned it.

Like I said, I will be able to tell the whole story soon, I'm just glad everyone made it home safe.

Glad you guys are OK!
Sorry for loss of vessel, but that can be replaced.
Your story may help others in the future so when you are able we will be listening.
Thanks, Joey

[quote="Reel_Workman_ship"], everyone is safe and uninsured,

Hope this was a typo error and you meant uninjured and not uninsured.
