I wouldn't start looking until at least 100ft for reliability

Gags are in 70 feet and deeper
Reds and scamps 100 feet and deeper
Since you can only keep one gag, best to just run deeper to start

I have some good ledges/live bottom in 82-91 ft for Gags. Usually get our 3 man limit within an hour or so the last 3 times we went there. I never catch any reds or scamps there though. Like Squid Row said you want to go a little deeper for those but as of now I don't have any coordinates in that depth. Been deployed almost all of last year and part of this year. My old GPS/Sonar unit took a crap and I didn't have my spots saved on an SD card. Have been catching them on frozen cigar minnows and some pin fish that was caught in the cast net before leaving the dock. This past Tues was really nice out, little to no current so we could use a smaller weight and I decided to finally try dropping a buoy marker overboard to help anchor on the spot after the drift pattern was established. Made anchoring very easy.
