Thought I would move this up here see if it got any traction

I have a private charter on the Yankee Capts In key west On March the 21-24 and have a few spots left, if you have never done this or were thinking about it now is the time.
we bottom fish at night in 100-200 ft of water and in the daytime fish 600-900 ft you stay on the boat for three nights.here is there website for information or pm me, also have a Facebook page dedicated to this trip you can ask to join east coast fishing friends
the cost is 800. Plus 125 for the meal plan if you want it, trust me it’s worth it

That’s pretty cool, I didn’t realize folks did long trips out to Pulley Ridge. I’ve spent a few months out there over the years conducting remotely operated vehicle operations. It always amazed me how flat that area was where we worked and the large amounts of lion fish out there. I will be over near the Dry Tortugas on a NOAA white ship during that time so you guys will pass us on the way out. Have fun and take some pictures for us.

I would love to see pictures from the trip.

I can't make it, but even if I could, I'm honestly a little intimidated from the website. I don't own an electric reel or battery or half the crap they say you must have as a minimum setup, and tackle rental didn't look to be much of an option either for pulley ridge trips.

I still wish you the best of luck and tight lines tho.

I would not worry about all that stuff, last trip we were not supposed to fish deep but the shallow bite was slow. We fished 600-700 feet with hand crank reels for snowy and many others, it’s hard but great rewards. I plan to mostly hand crank jigs in the deep, even though I am taking a electric reel,in case we run on some big schools of Blackbelly Rosefish

We went off Va Beach with Rudee for Tilefish at the end of January about 4 years ago. Coldest damn trip I've ever been on, but we caught bluelines and at the end of the day we got over rosebellies in 500' of water with a hand crank. It was work, but was able to get in a couple before we had to move. Problem with fishing that deep is that if you lose your bait, it's a long time to get reset and try again.

You guys make it out to Pulley Ridge? I've been near the Dry Tortugas since the 19th and the weather was a little bumpy the first few days but has been flat for over a week. Seeing a decent amount of red grouper and hogfish around and tons of baitfish in the water column.
