I'm looking to upgrade into a bigger boat to bottom fish 40 miles out. I'm considering a 2002 235 Sea Pro. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on these?

Friend bought a new 2020 SeaPro. Less then 2 months after buying it the TTop was so loose it shook like crazy and the boat rode like crap. Looking at a 2002? Almost 20 years old? Since you are looking for opinions, here is mine… DO NOT BUY THAT BOAT.

I've always had a lot of respect for the old Sea Pro boats. In 2005 the company was purchased by Brunswick Marine, I believe, and I'm not sure of what changes were made in quality, construction, etc. after that. I know the old ones had a good reputation down here in SE NC, and the little 21 footer I had (built in 2001), was a tough, tough, little boat that got me home from the tower on some fairly nasty days.I used it hard for over 15 years before trading up for a larger boat, and I put a lot of fish in that boat. Is there a way for you to try out the boat you're looking at? It was built before the Brunswick folks took over the company, so I'd think it would be worth checking out.

Good to know about the change of ownership. Just get a good survey done on it. What about the motor? Year, hours?

The motor is a 2008 yamha fourstroke with 350hrs on it. I certainly appreciate the info and help.
