Hard to tell from the pic and I'm not an expert but I think they may be Golden Tiles. If so that's a no no. Also could be Blueline but I can't see the line under the eye. Someone else got an ID?

I'm not a tilefish expert but I'd probably take the pic down just in case if it was me

Have caught plenty of blueline in NC and golden in FL. These fish are neither. Anybody else?? Capt. Dave??

Black Line tile is a winner. Not a blue or golden for sure.

Interesting, I wasn't aware that there was a black line tile. Haven't heard of anyone ever catching one.

Look like blackline to me. Great catch for NC. I've never put one in the boat. How big were they? How deep did you catch them?

Biggest was around 18" I chopped him up before I thought about taking a pic. I hope they get bigger now that I know where they live. We caught six total in a very short time, Very first drop we had 2 on. Left them chewing, wasn't sure if there was a bag limit. We were looking for blueline around 50 fathoms. Pretty good eats, taste just like a tilefish. Haha chin

Really no sense in releasing a fish from 300 ft, they would never survive.

Very cool! They get up to 10-15lbs I think. I imagine they were pretty tasty! I've caught some goldeneye tiles off NC and they're pretty tasty too.
Any luck on the bluelines? We've got a good number of them. I'm heading out to chase them Sunday as long as the weather holds.
