Anyone know where I can get a harpoon?

Think my 50 HP merc can drag a BFT back to MHC?

I know of one that was caught off a bay boat back in 2007 off southport.

You joke, but it's doable.

Oh I'm not joking!

I bought some tuna fishing rods/reels to shark fish with from shore a few years ago and have never used them.

If my fishing buddies don't get up off their ass (they have much bigger boats lol) I'm going!

I have a 24 gallon tank, that should be enough lol.......

Just be sure to have a HMS permit for harpoon, Hate for you to go to all that trouble, only to lose the fish and have to pay a pretty hefty fine. lmao

I'm sorry, thought you were going to go out there and just harpoon one, like the do off of Canada. But you will still need a HMS permit for the boat.
Good Luck, be careful

Oh ok, looks like the permit is 20 bucks for recreational?

Is there a limit on permits?

I'll bet the fleet can't wait for you to get in the middle of 'em when a bite is on. It's combat fishing that isn't for the feint of heart. Or small boats ... lmao

just bring an extra 5 gallon gas can with ya in case it takes a while to drag that thousand pounder back to the hill.

Kinda weird that rec trophy category has been filled but com quota still has so much available that they get a 4 fish limit.

Oh well. Can still catch and release if you are into that.

Well damn, so I would have to release? No seared peppercorn tuna for me?

Oh well, would still be a sick fight.

Errr......did you mean only "trophy" class is closed to rec?

So is there any slot a rec can keep?

Clarification on limits.

Rec bots are allowed 1 from 27"-47" and 1 from 47" to less than 73".

I can't stand those things. The small ones are edible but the big ones are only good for sushi. Which is OK, but I like a medium rare tuna steak. Throw a BFT steak on the grill and the fat just oozes out of them. There's a reason that the only fishery for them before the Japanese was for cat food @ 5cent a pound. Had grunts for dinner tonight. Much better table fare in my humble opinion. LOL!

I wish! I had to work.

Might get my opportunity to go tomorrow but it seems that a warm water push has them relocated or the full moon has them feeding at night......

I mainly wanted to catch one for the fight, and to do it in my skiff. However, I do love me some sushi.

Come on now, eating sushi is like drinking beer, over time you mature your pallet to the taste!

Honestly I prefer yellow fin and salmon when I'm eating sushi, but BFT is damn good too. Little spot of spicy sauce, a bit of soy sauce and some wasabi......nom nom nom.
