Did ya'll miss me?

Captain John did a fine job of looking after things while I was gone.

I went to Beach Haven NJ and picked up the soon to be Wild Rover III.
Beach Haven is a VERY nice place.
Day 1
Prepping the boat and shopping for the week.

Day 2
We left there and steamed to Rudee Inlet.
Nice ride south. The boat did excellent.
Once we hit Rudee Inlet. The Storm became an issue.
(and I will tell you a flounder story you will never believe)

Day 3
The Storm was south on you guys. I decieded to lay a day and wait it out in Rudee.

Day 4
Storm was parked about half way between the Rudee and Morehead. All the forecasts said 10-15 knots and s*&t tons of rain.
We left Rudee and steamed for Hatteras. About 70 miles out we hit 30 knots....10 foot seas and raining sideways. I turned around and returned to Rudee.
This Ol'Girl is a BEAST!! She took it all in stride.

Day 5
We layed a day waiting for the Storm to go the hell on.

Day 6
We layed another day waiting for the storm to go the hell on.

Day 7
We steamed around Hatteras to Beaufort. Arriving in Beaufort about 2:00am with fuel left!!!

Day 8 We steamed home.

I LOVE this boat. We will be very good friends I am sure.

This is the closest thing I have had to a vacation in more than 10 years.
It was good to have a little time off.

Thank You to Captain Bob, Mate Tyler and Mate Carson for their help! Without them I never could have done it.

I will post a bunch of PICS after I get through the 100,000 emails, PM's and various other crap I have stacked up waiting for me.

Dave

I heard someone calling you on the radio Saturday out of MHC. It sure was strange (but a nice thing) to hear your name up this way.

Can't wait for the pics and the flounder story. There's some big flatties north of Hatteras, including inside of Rudee Inlet. Welcome home amigo!

Welcome back!

A buddy of mine runs inshore charters in Rudee Inlet (Knot Wishing Custom Charters). He used to offer a "Bloody Mary Special", with an extra half hour built in to stop at Big Sams so the charter could finish a Bloody Mary breakfast. Not a bad sales gimmick.

Didn't even know that you were gone. But now that you are back, maybe you can fix that link to NWS. Just kidding, glad you got in that trip and were able to weather the weather :). Since you are an expectant father, I am also glad that you were so cautious.

I was wondering why you hadn't returned my call
I've made that trip with Capt. Bob to Beach Haven before… a nice long boat ride with a few layover days will clear the cob webs out, and/or add some. haha
Can't wait to see her …. she sounds like a sweet ride
Welcome home
