Got a bucket of old flares..smoke, signal,parachute...to get rid of.I thought the parachute flares would be neat on July 4, but learned quick not a good idea.They keep burning after they hit ground in the neighbors yard\car\shed?Anybody know? Thanks

probably not the proper way ... my aerials I fired off into a drum with a lid through the bung, the old flares got used on the brush pile

I usually keep a few. Put them into a zip lock bag, they will still work. Make sure that you write on them and the bag EXPIRED. Keep a few the rest bring to the local fire house.

I do what Barry does with his expired flares. However, I usually use three of the expired flares to do some practical application with my wife and kids so they will know how to use them. When the are lit we throw them in the fire pit. This way my family knows just about how long they burn and how to use them.
