In New England we have scores of different bait that works from shore and sea. For me, the best bait for Stripers and Haddock and Pollock is fresh clams. Fortunately, in a town called Scarborough, anyone can dig 3 bushels per day. You don't need a license, and you don't even need to be a state resident. You just need to make sure that clamming is open. It's a blast digging your own bait!

You may be aware of this, but, when you locate one clam, there is always a second withing about a foot. If you look at the video, at 1:45, as you dig the clam there are 2 blow holes, one on each side of the clam you are digging.
