Two years ago I purchased a Garmin 1042SXV complete package including Garmin Marine Radio, New Sideview Sonar, and the Blue Chart upgrade softwear.
I am completely pleased with it . I do recommend that you purchase a new marine antenna ( not required) with one coax connection on the antenna incase you forget to put the antenna down after a long day of fishing your very tired, and just forget. Make sure you purchase the NEMA 2000 starter kit. I installed it myself used a lot of personal lubricant on the wires to channel it thru the Tee Top tubing, it was a bear. Run some extra wires for future expansion.
I purchased mine from the GPS Store on line, talk to a young lady called Ashley.
I’m not so computer savvy so it took me a little bit to understand the system. You can make your own courses, on your home computer , transfer it to a SD Disk then transfer it to your onboard system.

Getting a new boat this Saturday nice 22 foot tri toon with 150hp Merc. We are trying to decide on a relatively cost effective GPS, plotter fish finder to buy and mount on the boat. I was looking at the Lowrance Hook 7 with down scan. not bad price at $399 on sale with some additional rebates but I'm looking for input from the group.
We live on charlotte harbor in Port Charlotte Florida 90% plus of our boating will be into the harbor and out to Boca Grand and the intercostal that runs along Manasota and Casey Key what would recommendations be from this group on a good tried and true set up that doesn't break the bank.
