Guys im not trying to turn this into a "Ford & Chevy" debate. As I have mentioned on other posts I am pretty new to the saltwater fishing and the boat brands that I see down here are completely different than what I am use to at Lake Erie. I do understand that you get what you pay for. Ill put it out there now, I cant afford a yellowfin or invisible or contender. I get that they are great boats and all but another issue that I am not comfortable with is buying a boat of that nature that is going to have to be that old to be repowered. My ball park is in the few years old with low hours and the field of the Sea Hunts, Key West, Cobia and others along that price line. About the 27 to 30 ft class. Im not an everyday fisherman as iv said. I appreciate all the posts and comments but when I looked up the boat I never heard of. The Albemarles I believe someone said and I looked it up and about s**t my pants lol. Love it but cant touch that. I also take in the comment on the fact that the Onslow will outride the Sea Hunt but Ill be honest in my stand point, if it is not relatively calm.....I aint going. I say I have never rode on a CC that was over than my 2006 22 ft so I am assuming that a Sea Hunt 27 ft HAS to be a better ride.

Don't sell your self short. There are a lot of older well kept Albe's for less than the Sea Hunt, The same goes for the Contenders and Regulators. Yellowfin and Invincible not so much. The year of the hull should not matter that much to you. It is the make and condition of the boat how it was maintained, service records etc.
But no matter what you buy, unless you are buying from a dealer with a warranty get a survey. Total survey hull, wiring, motor(s) accessories (pumps, lights) Just one unseen problem will more than pay for the survey. I say this from experience.
Lastly there is no perfect boat. You will get it and as time goes on you will add, subtract and make modifications. They become very personalized. Good luck in what ever you buy.

You need to start asking for folks in here to ride theirs. There is no substitute for length. Being able to span a wave better will in turn give a better ride. Other factors play a role as well but length is the biggest one.
You need to sit and settle on what you need, plan to do with the boat. Brand new and features you will be hard to beat the price of the sea hunt. Even as they have climbed up over the years. They still offer way more for your money and cheaper.
Yes you can find deals on older boat. The hull truth has more than you care to look at. if you get an older boat you will need a survey as well as much research on that particular model as more than likely you aren't going to get a warranty. If you need financing then that will be a bit tougher with an older boat as well.
Brand new gamefish 27 with 250s loaded ready to fish is gonna run $120k ish, the 30 is gonna put you around 160k

most of all enjoy the hunt for what you want. I had a blast looking for what I wanted in a boat, and the education is priceless.

I think we both know what we would get if we were going to spend that kind of dough for a boat in that size range.

Response from POP Yachts International
Hi, my name is Scott from POP Yachts and we just wanted to provide you with some feedback regarding this thread and to clear up any misconceptions about our company and how we operate.
Our reputation is extremely important to us. The internet has made doing business very transparent and if you do have any specific questions about our operation, we encourage you to give us a buzz (941-894-3215) and we will be happy to explain how the company operates. We are also happy to provide references on both the buying and selling side.
I am sure many of you on this thread have owned your own business or have worked for yourself at one point or another. Our business is no different in that we are a "for profit" company, earning income through providing a service. We do our very best to provide a positive experience for our customers and in fact we do get quite a bit of positive feedback from our customers each and every day. Unfortunately there are individuals out there who come in through our marketing dollars and would, without hesitation, attempt to go direct to the seller in an attempt to cut us out of the deal to save them a few dollars. However, that is not why we are reluctant to provide the boat location to a potential buyer. Our seller's are hiring us as their representative to bring them a qualified buyer and to sell their vessel. Many do not want to deal with individual buyers and just about all of them emphatically do not want us giving out their boat location to a stranger to just show up at their house or marina. Therefore, we do our very best to qualify buyers before setting up a showing and we want to have one of our reps there to facilitate. We must respect our client's privacy.
Regarding the 890 active vessels that we are marketing on our website as of today, each of those has a signed marketing agreement between the owner of the vessel and our company along with proof of ownership documents. We DO NOT hijack listings from other brokers and we DO NOT market anyone's vessel without explicit written permission. Our agreement does restrict the seller from listing a vessel with another broker while we are marketing the vessel and therefore it is not an "open" listing in that sense. However, we are a co-broke friendly company and we often work with other brokerages on both sides of a transaction. When we approach a seller for a listing, we never play games such as telling someone that we have a buyer ready to go, get the listing, and then the buyer mysteriously disappears. In fact, if we do have a situation where we have a buyer for a private seller vessel, we will do a specific agreement with that seller for that specific transaction only.
Regarding the detail in our listings, if you have been to our website you may have seen that we like to provide everything and anything we can to help our buying customers make a decision on a vessel purchase. We will often take 100+ photos of a vessel. We do not hide anything. If the boat is dirty, it will show dirty in the photos. We always do our best to provide accurate information as you do not want any surprises, nor do we! However, in many situations, we are reliant on information that is provided to us by the seller, which in some cases we cannot verify. An example of this might be where an owner tells us there are X amount of hours on the engines, but there is not an hour meter. Or the owner tells us that the generator was rebuilt 2 years ago, but has no records of it. We readily admit that we are neither marine surveyors nor mechanics and we do not go through each and every system. Again, we do our best to provide a true representation of every vessel that we market, but we always encourage the buyer to get an independent survey.
Many of our customers (both buyers and sellers) like working with a licensed brokerage for a variety of reasons including true world-wide exposure, escrowing funds, accurate paperwork, shipping coordination, etc., etc. We hope that our customers see the value that our company provides and feel that the money that we earn on a closed transaction is deserving.
Sorry to jump in on this thread, but we were beginning to see some speculation and such and we wanted to clarify how we operate. If you do give us the opportunity to work with you, we are quite confident that you will find that we are a hard working organization who does things ethically and honestly. We love the marine industry and we are hoping to help raise the bar in regards to service level.
Sincerely,
Scott

I was only joking about the ford and chevy debate. There are a lot of good boats out there on the market and I am partial to sea hunts myself. I was only stating that what one man likes, another is gonna disagree.
I completely recommend trying to ride on a few before buying, just like taking a test drive with a car. Their will be many boats with different options that fit the bill for what you need/want. Just don't over-think it or you will wind up always comparing whatever you get with the other brands and always find something you don't like with what you have.

POP Yachts has a terrible reputation. Find the original listing broker.

You might also want to take into consideration the dead rise of the hull on the boats you are looking at. If you are planing on running any distance offshore I would want a 22 degree or more. The more dead rise the more the boat is gonna cut threw the waves the less dead rise the more the boat is gonna bounce around on top. If you are looking for a boat in the 27-30 ft class most of them will have a 22-24.5 degree

I am going to have to throw another option into the mix. I know a buddy that has a 2015 28 ft Tidewater boat that is for sale and it is beautiful. As only being a one center console boat owner and being from Ohio, I do not know much about the true carolina center consoles which is why I put it on here with all of you guys with years of experience. It really seems to have everything that I am looking for and it really looks like a good quality boat BUT I have only seen MAYBE 1 or 2 while being down at Holden Beach. Not trying to stir this up again but if I good get some good non bias information on the Tidewater boat. Thanks Guys!

My fishing buddy got a 28Tidewater last year and I fished on it several times. It is a solid boat and was made to both fish and cruise with the family. His has twin F300's Yamaha's and obviously has plenty of power. The fit and finish is good. It has a fairly deep vee and a lot of flare. The ride is good and dry for center console.

Tidewater is in the same class as the sea hunt. You really need to either just buy something and be done or get on all the boats in your price range. They will all do about the same thing so it depends on the lay out you like best.
