Does anyone have a Cape Horn 22 on this site I'm really looking hard at this boat ! I posted earlier about other boats until I ran across this boat,it's huge to be 22'9" long and has a 9'1" beam I currently have a sea hunt 234 ultra but this boat makes mike look small any input with owners of one of these would be greatly appreciated we currently go to stream on good days I just wanna make sure this will too

There is very little storage on those boats.

I have a friend that has one. I used to have a 24 Sea Hunt and you could set that boat inside his 22 Cape Horn. Ill tell him this is here he will come by and post. He did put alot of videos on youtube of the boat too. Just search 22 Cape Horn on youtube.

I have the 22 OS and it's definitely a beast. Shoot me a pm with contact info and I will get in touch with you. Depending on where ya at or when i am at the beach, ya welcome aboard for a ride.

Kilowatt is right on target about vids. Not professional quality but I did some vids from last fall. You tube, search for Wicked Games Fishing. Two are intro , one of the outside and one of the inside and others are offshore.....

All the trips out, it's only been flat calm once. I am used to it being rough and she Handles very well in rough water with no need for curtains. Have not gotten wet yet..

LOL at "Very little storage". Cracks me up..... Every boat has their pluses and negatives as I have never seen the perfect boat. There is give and take but in the end, it's what fits the individual needs that works best.. I found it in the Cape Horn 22OS....

Looking forward to hearing from ya...

Am I wrong about there being little storage? All it has is the fish box and the console. The Sea Hunt Ultra 234 in comparison has two bow compartments, the console and 3 stern compartments.

The Cape Horns are solid, no nonsense boats. The newer ones are a little nicer than the older ones that were rolled gunnel but they still don't have a lot of comforts some other models have, so I wouldn't consider them to be as family friendly as some of the others. I don't like the lines on the 22 and 24 but that's my opinion.

Thanks for input guys! Yes I'll pm you wickedgames, right now it's between the key west 244 with twin 150s and cape horn 22,I really like the layout on Cape Horn but haven't seen one in person!!! The Cape Horn looks to have same fishing area in back like the key west !! I just want a safe boat to fish 60 miles out with the family

No Worries..

It does have the fish box in the bow. There used to be a divider, one for a small fish box and the forward area being for storage. Talked to Cape Horn about it and they took out the divider to allow for more room.

Took a little getting used to with the console door on the front raising up but there's a lot of room in the console and for the boat size, easy to get in and out..

On the leaning post, there are storage hatches on each side that open out, above the live well lid but under the seat, there is a very accessible large storage area with plenty of room. In the stern, on the starboard side, there is a hatch that opens out. They put a square bucket in the hatch, which is where I keep my cast net and bottom weights.

To be fair, only negative that I honestly have, is the size of the anchor locker. Could and should be bigger. I only have a 100 ft. of rope and have to move the rope around to get the anchor shaft and the anchor down in its holder..

For me, I love having alot of room inside snd I do not need the family friendly touches. That's what my ocean tamer bean bags are for. Lol

Just my 2 Cents... I have personally rode on Wicked Games Boat... and by far it has more room than Kilowatts 24 sea hunt. i own a 22ft Sea hunt Escape and it rode better than mine has ever rode. As far as storage. well it has more than my boat ever did. i will say the boat handles the water extremely good. 3ft chop you can run 35 without taking a beating and not a drop of water.. trust me i know first hand. these boats are very well made and i never thought i would like them but i have changed my mind...

I have the 24 OS and it is the biggest 24 I have ever seen. As for the storage I think there is plenty. The only thing missing are the shallow little kill boxes.

My 2 cents and there certainly is lots of opinions. There is no doubt the Cape Horn 22 is a nice stable boat. Cape Horns and well built and solid boats.

But if you are really looking for a stream boat, a larger twin boat will obviously be safer, and also put you in the stream more often. I know it all boils down to $, but I would rather stretch it a bit and find the right boat you can use for years and be safe, and happy with it.

Yes there are lots of singles that fish the stream, but more often than not, bigger is better especially on those rough days, and we end up moving up if we can.

I know one thing, I'm glad I wasn't out there Saturday on a 22. It wasn't over the top nasty, but it would not have been fun anyway.

I'm sure there will be other opinions to the contrary but my 2 cents.

Look into a used 24 Albemarle express. Just ask BamBam on this site.

Utilitarian!! Great boat for the money. Storage means a bunch of stuff you don't really need and gets left in boat to add weight forever. No one had mentioned foam in hull.

Are you still happy with the Cape Horn 22os? I sold my boat and if nothing changes my mind this is what I’m buying.

I own a Cape Horn 22 OS, and have fished out to 58+ miles at least 10 times this season. I come home with just under half a tank of fuel and dry. For the price point there is no better boat, hands down! Only thing I wish was different is the leaning post but that is because of my bad back from years of abuse in the USCG. You are far better off with a single engine Cape Horn 22 than you are with an average hull with twins. Do not get hung up on the number 22 or single screw vs. twins. Especially if purchasing new with a Yamaha! I have no issues with storage and the boat easily converts to a family rig with a few bean bag chairs. Also, unless you are mechanically inclined I highly suggest avoiding a larger used boat for the same price point.

Thanks for the reply.....I hope to buy new shortly...I have the option of a 300hp Yamaha or a 350 Suzuki. Is the 300 plenty of power? I found a used one with a 250 Suzuki but think it may be under powered.

300 Yamaha is perfectly matched! I cruise at 3800rpm, 2.9mpg, 26kts/29mph. On way home if there are big fish to show off, I'll bump it up to 4200rpm, 2.5mpg, 29kts/33mph. POB and trim tabs change those numbers slightly. I forgot to mention cost of ownership/fuel economy in my original post, which are other boxes that the Cape Horn checks!
