SELL YOUR BOAT BECAUSE YOU DONT DESERVE TO USE ONE WITH AS MUCH COMMON SENSE AS YOU HAVE!!!!!! Not to mention courtesy. I hope you see this and that karma bites a big ol chunk out of your asses.
Let me just start by saying, when your heading to the ramp to load up, unless your by yourself... Drop someone off at the dock to get the truck and then PULL AWAY FROM THE DOCK SO OTHERS CAN DO THE SAME!!!!!
At 3:55 I went under the bridge. Yes I looked because I wanted to see how long it was going to take after seeing about 3 dozen boats waiting there and counting. Pulled up to a crowded dock and 2 boats are taking up the entire middle 2 ramps. Just sitting there. 40 MINUTES LATER THEY ARE STILL SITTING THERE. I finally lost it and yelled for them to move out of the way while they waited. Finally just went between them missing them by mere centimeters and on the way by I heard them say something about us not being patient and other snarky remarks. If either of you are on here and see this, I think we were very kind and patient for waiting almost an hour before saying anything so you my friends are the disrespectful ones with no regards for others. MAN I HATE HOLIDAYS DURING SUMMER! End of rant

Seapro ;The holidays and summer brings out the mass stupidity and ignorance in ramp manners/incompetance... You've always got some that are clueless and think the world revolves around them......

Seapro, it was a absolute mess there today. We had a guy drive the wrong way around, and a few boats sitting there holding everyone else as well. Sometime around 4:30ish

I'll be using that ramp for the next two weeks - launching alone.
Tough to get the truck and get in line when there is no space to leave the boat.

40 minutes!!! Holy crap. At Oregon Inlet I would worry about shots being fired if someone held things up that long!

I wouldn’t expect anything else on Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. Find a private ramp or avoid boating altogether those weekends.

Don't forget the BAD OLE DAYS when there was only one Public Ramp in Morehead City at the Welcome Center. Now we have three ramps in the area with at least some parking. Not to take away from your very good point about people not knowing what to do at the boat ramp.

Aint no better down here.
At 10am this morning, Snows Cut had 3 boats tied up that would not crank, another sea ray-ish boat that sat there I know 30 minutes tied up waiting on people, and another guy snapped his rope and fell in the water pulling a twin engine sea fox to the dock to tie off.

I just don't understand how people are so lost and clueless when it comes to boating. A little common sense goes a long way. Of course most these days lack that trait...

The problem with common sense is that it is not very common. My favorite (least favorite) is the boater who pulls the boat up to the ramp before putting their trailer in place.

Seapro180,
I hear you loud and clear!!!!!!!!
I am not prone to silence with stupid idiocy at a boat ramp.
I live about a mile from a ramp here downeast. I WILL NOT EVEN ATTEMP TO LEAV THE YARD WITH MY BOAT ON MEMORIAL DAY, FOURTH OF JULY OR LABOR DAY.
Other times during the warmer months I make sure that I get in the water before the yahoos from off show up. Then I have to be mentally prepared for coming in and waiting when people yak jaw for many minutes with folks on the second ramp. They have no comprehension of any one else wanting to get in and get their boats out.....and then there is the DMF folks taking surveys and tying things up much worse. AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!
And do not get me started on the idiots who back part way down the ramp and then put the plug in, unload their vehicle with their "supplies", eventually put the boat in and take way too much time...…. and of course sit in the water for their family members to show up in another vehicle and block all the ramps while 20 people dawdle in their attempt to put all of them in an 18 foot boat. Dawdle was a kind word.
But I do have to say that you can readily tell the ones who are very efficient in putting in and taking out. Hell, I am disabled and use a cane and can do both by myself much quicker than so many people can NOT do it with several people. I include the walk from the tow vehicle trailer and the reverse when back.
ANOTHER AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!

What about the four guys with one boat and one truck and only one can drive the boat and he's the only one out of the group who can back the trailer.
I thought you couldn't get your man card without being able to back a trailer.

On the other hand, a beach chair, six pack and sunscreen at the ramp and you can sit and watch one of the best comedy skits on the coast!

Wish I was perfect but I have put the boat in without the plug in.A couple of times.[But it wasn't MY fault] Wound the strap in the gears [Too many distractions on a hot afternoon] But I've never... somehow a guy still had the 14' jon boat still hooked to the trailer after launching and drives off, dragging it up the concrete with his buddy in it with a death grip on the sides yelling"Whoa G######it".You cant make this stuff up

Just to add more lack of common sense is those that pull out and stop just above the ramp to load up and block others trying to get out or around and backed in for their boats.
Come on people, pull up and around somewhere out of the way and then put things away!

I’ll join the rant on clueless people this is for Snows Cut Ramp. This was a Saturday around five weeks ago not a holiday. I have a 23’ Grady with twin 150’s and my starboard motor wouldn’t trim down so I’m running with just my port motor only. Pulling the boat for maintenance. With the tide coming in, wind blowing straight down the intercostal, one motor and by myself. I needed to use the right side of the middle dock. The ramp was not crowded because it was a very windy day. When I get out front there is a guy with a small center console trying to back down the ramp that I intend to use. It takes him a couple tries to get the boat into the water he is by himself and I’m in no hurry. He ties the boat up so he can park his car no problem. When he finally gets in his car to park he pulls up the ramp just far enough to get the trailer out of the water and stops and sits there. It seemed he sat there forever. He finally pulls away to park and then he doesn’t come back. I think he had to use the porta john? He finely show up and gets into his boat and starts changing clothes and then he starts rigging his fishing rods. At this point I figure it’s a long dock and there is plenty of room on the end for me to dock on and that way I could be backing the trailer down the ramp to be ready when he leaves. It ended up being pretty tricky getting docked where I wanted to be and as I’m tying up I hear someone yelling. I look up and this guy is yelling at me for docking on his dock and blocking him in which I didn’t do. At this point there were some words exchange and he jumps out of his boat and gets in my face still yelling at me. I’m thinking this guy is nuts and if I don’t back down he will kick my ass or I’ll kick his. So I back away and sit down in my boat to get away from him. He is standing on the dock telling me that when I go to get my trailer he will untie my boat and set it adrift. After I ignore him long enough he walks back to his boat and leaves cussing me the whole way. After he leaves I start walking to my car and I hear him again and he is in Snow Cut running parallel with the parking lot still cussing at me. I have been using Snows Cut Ramp for 10 years and this is the first jerk I have run into.

Don't that make you want to just pop the plug out of their boat when they walk away? Some people are just a special kind of stupid and would do the whole world a favor by drinking a big ol glass of bleach. There again, this guy sees no wrong or disrespect in his actions

You should have appolagized for blocking him in , then went to his truck after he left and let the air out of his tires that would have set the bastard on fire.

I hate to say this but I think you were the idiot of the day. There are more ramps there and granted your situation you can’t expect him to know what you need to do or that you have one engine. If there was absolutely no one else there launching or waiting then he can sit there as long as he needs to imo.

I caught myself getting irritated like this before when someone is "taking their time" at the dock or waiting on others to load the boat. Many times I will take a group of people out fishing that does not own a boat or has never backed up a trailer and there is no way I would want them to practice with mine. I am usually the one who has to drive the boat up to the dock and get out to go get the truck/trailer. While doing this it will take a few min in order to go get the truck. I believe this is something we have to take into account. There are also those "holiday/first timers/ inexperienced boaters who do not know proper boat ramp etiquette. Eventually some of those people will learn and some will never learn. We all know this is something to be expected when launching at a public boat ramp.
